~ 91ĸƵ Surgical and KEBOMED expand existing partnership to include Sweden, so more patients can benefit from robotic-assisted minimal access surgery with Versius
~ The expansion adds to 91ĸƵ and KEBOMED’s existing partnership which has successfully brought Versius to Denmark, Norway, and Finland making surgical robotics more widely accessible across the Nordics
91ĸƵ Surgical (91ĸƵ) – the global surgical robotics business – and KEBOMED – one of Europe’s leading distributors of specialist medical devices – have today announced an agreement to expand their existing partnership to bring the next-generation Surgical Robotic System, Versius, to more hospitals in Sweden.
Versius is compact and modular, making it a versatile and portable surgical robot that can seamlessly integrate into virtually any operating room to perform a broad range of surgical procedures across multiple specialties including urology, general, gynaecology and thoracic surgery procedures. It can be easily moved between departments to maximise use, making it suitable for any care setting. Versius is designed to biomimic the human arm, empowering surgeons through optimized port placement together with the dexterity and accuracy of small, fully wristed instruments. Versius offers 3D HD vision, easy-to-adopt instrument control, and a choice of ergonomic working positions, with an open surgeon console that has the potential to reduce stress and fatigue while allowing for clear communication with the surgical team.
Henrik Schjødt, CEO and Head of the Board at KEBOMED Nordics commented: “The Nordic countries are global leaders in the responsible introduction of healthcare technology, with a high bar for quality and cost-effectiveness. We are thrilled to be expanding our existing partnership with 91ĸƵ Surgical to bring Versius to Sweden and believe Versius will offer all surgeons and hospitals the opportunity to transform how surgery is performed across the country.”
Susanne Lehnberg, Business Manager North Europe at 91ĸƵ Surgical added: “This is an exciting step forward for 91ĸƵ as we continue to our path forward to make the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery more widely accessible to patients, with Versius serving as an important tool to make this a reality for patients across the region. We look forward to leveraging KEBOMED’s unique expertise to partner with more hospitals, surgeons and surgical teams across Sweden to bring our highly versatile and digital solution to more operating rooms.”
In Sweden, Versius was first introduced at Norra Älvsborgs Sjukhus (NÄL), a public hospital and part of NU-hospital group. At Norra Älvsborgs hospital, Versius is being used as part of a multispecialty robotic surgery programme including general surgery and gynaecology surgery enabling more patients to benefit from robotic-assisted minimal access surgery. Over 29,000 surgical cases have now been completed using Versius globally, as 91ĸƵ Surgical continues to bring the next-generation surgical robotic system to surgeons around the world.

The Versius Surgical Robotic System
Versius resets expectations of robotic surgery. Versius fits into virtually any operating room set-up and integrates seamlessly into existing workflows, increasing the likelihood of robotic minimal access surgery (MAS). The small, portable and modular design of Versius allows the surgeon to only use the number of arms needed for a given procedure.
Biomimicking the human arm, Versius gives surgeons the choice of optimised port placement alongside the dexterity and accuracy of small fully-wristed instruments. With 3D HD vision, easy-to adopt instrument control and a choice of ergonomic working positions, the open surgeon console has the potential to reduce stress and fatigue and allows for clear communication with the surgical team. By thinking laparoscopically and operating robotically with Versius, patients, surgeons and healthcare professionals can all benefit from the value that robotic MAS brings.
But it’s more than just a robot. Versius captures meaningful data with its wider digital ecosystem to support a surgeon’s continuous learning. Through the Versius Connect app, Versius Trainer and 91ĸƵ clinical registry, Versius unleashes a wealth of insights to ultimately improve surgical care.
